Just months ago, I felt a strong desire to find you. I googled and found you were gone. My heart broke! What did we call our band? What was that horrible cat's name? Where did time go? Almost half a century, yet your impact on my life remains strong. I'll plant a tree called Spade in my garden where you can live forever. I'll never forget you.

We were kids together; me, Scrooge, Sly and Spade. I will never forget Thanksgiving at his Mom's. she was a beautiful, kind woman who helped a street kid feel loved. Thanks to you all for the safety, love and memories. Rest easy. Rona

You were a artist a dancer a beautiful person. You spoke with meaning and I will always remember your voice. You created style and never followed. You were a gentleman and a great hugger. Many loved you. I am one of them. Rest peacefully brother until we meet again.

To Spade, although we never met, through four- degrees of separation we are connected. When I started to connect the dots on Facebook, I discovered that I know, Alison (your cousin and my chiropractor), Melissa (a mutual long-time friend of yours and mine), Mildred (another long-time friend and neighbor and mother to a very special person, your son Ethan). I consider Ethan “my son,” too. :O). All of these people loved you very much and I am glad that they are part of my world.

To the Houston family, I offer my sincere condolences on the loss of Spade whose creative spirit will be sorely missed by all those he encountered.

I can still can smell you, brother. I wanted more from you but how does one embrace the sun? I miss you and must now learn to walk all over again because I have now learned that one of my feet belonged to you. - Your Sister, DeCatt

Warms my heart to know my cousin was loved by so many, just as much as I did. He was my saving grace the whole time I practiced chiropractic in DC, he fixed everything that ever broke, he was also my confidante,, miss him so much!!!

Makes me sad to.learn that Spade has passed. It seems that it always our favorites who leave much too early? And so may you have peace and pass on through the Cosmos into the eternal light, where you'll do and be as you did and were in life, always brightening our spirits and enlightening us all! See you in the next world, Brother Spade...
