Anton Max Weiss

Anton Max Weiss of Rockville, Maryland, and Key West, Florida died on December 18, 2023, in Key West at the age of 81. Born in New York on November 6, 1942, Anton grew up in the suburbs of New Rochelle. He was the only child of Morris Weiss and Celia Weiss (nee Cohen). His father Morris had emigrated to the United States from Hungary as a teenager and was one of eleven brothers. His father and several other brothers owned "The Weiss Restaurant" in Long Island which operated from 1933-1973. Anton graduated from the State University of New York in Binghamton in 1964 and earned his law degree from Georgetown University in 1967. He went on to practice law in Washington, DC, and Maryland for 50 years, almost all of which time he was partnered with Paul Pascal. Their firm, Pascal & Weiss, primarily engaged in civil litigation. Anton was well-respected in the legal community and regarded as a gentleman and pleasant adversary. Anton married Helaine L. (Cookie) Rubin of Atlanta, Georgia in 1969 and they had two children, a son, Mason, and a daughter, Camille. Anton and Cookie later divorced, and he remarried Junghi (nee Cho) in 1991. Anton loved fishing, cooking, traveling, and arguing, and was very devoted to remembering the origins of the Weiss family. Anton leaves behind his wife, Junghi of Rockville, Maryland, stepson, Eddie Kim, and his wife Natalie, and their daughter Avery of Orlando, Florida, son, Major (U.S. Army, Retired) Mason Weiss, daughter-in-law, Ana Weiss (nee Preciado) of Medicine Park, Oklahoma, daughter, Camille Puiu, son-in-law Razvan Puiu, grandson, Charlie Max Puiu of Atlanta, Georgia, along with various cousins, second cousins, and distant cousins. Instead of flowers, please donate to the Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. in Washington, DC.

His funeral was held on December 22, 2023 at the Mount Hebron Cemetery in Queens, New York City.
