Arcadia Dowdell Phillips (Age 87)
Daughter of Frank and Arcadia Phillips was born in Washington, DC on July 17, 1931 and died peacefully March 27, 2018. Arcadia grew up in Washington and attended Horace Mann Elementary, Alice Deal Junior High School, National Cathedral School and she graduated from Westhampton College, University of Richmond. Upon graduation from college she joined her father's business, Frank S. Phillips, Inc. until retirement. Arcadia's civic activities included, Sibley Memorial Hospital where she served as a trustee and a member of the board's Executive Committee, elected secretary of the Board of Trustees, a member of various committees and served as a volunteer for 29 years. Arcadia was an active member of Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church. She is survived by her brothers, Leland (Sheila) and Frank Phillips, nieces Julie and Terri Phillips, nephews, Leland, Jr., Michael, Paul and Dan Phillips, and great-nieces, Jessica and Jacqueline Phillips and great-nephews, Michael, Will, and Logan Shenk. A memorial service will be held at Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church located at 3401 Nebraska Avenue, NW, Washington, DC on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sibley Memorial Hospital, 5255 Loughboro Road, NW, Washington, DC 20016 or to Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church.

Arcadia and I went to NCS together. She was a lovely lady and I always loved our reunions when we got a chance for a real visit. She will be missed. My condolences to her family.
