On June 30, 2006. Beloved mother of Lynn Thomas and Adelaide Coles. She is also survived by one grandson, Drake Tanner; two sisters, one brothers, a host of other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends on Friday, July 7, 2006 from 9 a.m. until time of service, 11 a.m. at Macedonia Community Church, 1026 46th St., N.E., Washington, DC. Interment Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by POPE.

Auntie Arlene, I can't believe it's been 19 years. Time really does fly. Just want you to know that your daughter Lynn is still holding down the fort. She just had her big 60th birthday party. I know she wishes you were here to dance and celebrate with her. Lynn is doing well and advancing in life as you would have wanted her to. You would be extremely proud of her accomplishments. Brunee is doing well also with Drake who has grown to be a darling of a young man. Lynn and B have done a wonderful job raising him. Of coarse Lynn spoils him as if he was her own lol, but it's a good spoil. She definitely make sure he's on the track. Though it's been 19 years know that you are still missed. We know you look down on all of us and smile from heaven. We're just doing the best that we can on earth. We love you :-).

Auntie Arlene, HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY! I know you are celebrating in HEAVEN :-). Many years have gone by but know that you are still missed by so many of us. When I think of you, I always think of your kindness. I also think of how you danced. I'm smiling now just thinking about it. Lynn and B could dance but they can't dance like you LOLOL. YOU COULD DANNNNNNNCE! You would be extremely proud of your girls. They are doing well and are truly BLESSED. You have raised them with great morales to succeed in life. Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help me cope. I think about our trips to downtown. You waiting at the counter at GC Murphy while I ate my hotdogs. Then we would go to the cafeteria in the back while you ate your lunch. You made so many sacrifices for your family, always putting other's needs first.

Auntie, we met with your baby girl for breakfast recently. We enjoyed ourselves. Afterwards, on our commute home, mom was talking about how wonderful Lynn is and how you did a good job raising her. Mom says she's just like you. Caring and love to have fun. Of coarse I was like (who) Lynn not like that (lolol)but on the real she is very kind, caring, giving, and loves to have fun. She's a sweetie pie but don't sleep she can be a monster too if you step at her wrong lol but that's my cuzzzzzzz. We also talked about how we miss seeing you dance. Mom said you would tear the floor up getting your groove on. Seeing you dance would crack me up I would be like go Aunt Arlene. Other than your kind and caring ways, dancing was always something I'll never forget about you. I'm smiling now reminiscing :-) Love ya Much ! ! Sylvia
