Arthur Pahno Obituary

ARTHUR N. PAHNO

ARTHUR N. PAHNO, 87 a veteran of World War II, a celebrated engineer with the US Army Corps of Engineers and local activist died on April 22, 2007 of natural causes in Arlington.

Mr. Pahno served in the Navy during WW II in the Pacific Theater and fought in Okinowa. After the War, he attended Georgia Tech, was a member of TKE fraternity and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He spend his career as an electrical engineer for the Crop on Engineers and served them in many capacities all over the world. Mr. Peahen was instrumental in establishing American bases in Libya, Madrid, Paris and Greece. He retired in 1985.

He served as a major in the Air Force reserves during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and spend the years following his retirement as activist in the community. He served on the board of many local organizations including the Washington-Lee PTA, the Cherrydale Citizens Association, the Arlington County Tax Payers Association, the Washington Chapter of AAUP and the DC Toastmasters Association.

He is survived by his wife, five children and 10 grandchildren. He was interred in Kalamata, Greece.
