Barton Goldenberg Obituary

Barton was raised in Newton, MA. He was educated at Univ. of Pennsylvania for his undergraduate degree and at LSE for his graduate degree. He spent 5 years working in Europe where he met the love of his life, Marina. He was the proud dad of Daniel and Nina. Barton loved his family. He enjoyed growing his business and publishing several business books. Philanthropy was very important to Barton and Rotary in particular provided moral guidance to his life; he had many fond Rotary adventures and memories. He enjoyed financial investing, sailing, skiing, biking, and staying fit. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his two sisters, Lisa (Medfield, MA) and Bess (NYC). Gifts should be directed to Rotary International via their website.

I knew Barton through Rotary, where he served in various capacities, including as an Assistant District Governor, who provided oversight and ideas to give or more clubs, including Potomac-Bethesda Rotary, when I was its President. Barton was very supportive and helped me to overcome some problems with the Rotary District Governor of Nepal. Barton had good political skills and good people skills. I liked very much and hope his family members are all well. I know he is missed!

Today you would have been 70, we were born 8 days apart. Memories of London, Washington, but most especially Brussels, linger and sift sweetly. There we shared a home, took outings, enjoyed good times with new friends and held discussions over business and politics and of course, girls.
With time came distance but the spirit lives.
