Benjamin Gershowitz Obituary
BENJAMIN M. GERSHOWITZ (Age 30)
Suddenly, on Monday, December 5, 2022, BENJAMIN M. GERSHOWITZ of Easton, MD, formerly of Montgomery County, MD. Beloved son of Susan Davidoff Gershowitz and the late Alan Gershowitz. Cherished brother of Aaron (Kimberly) and Steven Gershowitz. Dear nephew of Richard (Susan) Davidoff and proud and loving uncle of Matthew and Keith Gershowitz. Ben graduated Wootton High School and magna cum laude from UMBC with a B.A. degree in Psychology. Ben worked at the Snyder Center for Aphasia Life Enhancement (SCALE) where, as administrative staff, he developed and implemented activities for patients with cognitive/communication disabilities and later as a Residential/Rehabilitation Facilitator at Way Station, Inc., providing services to adults with serious mental illness and behavioral challenges. Ben was an energetic, fun-loving, kind young man with an infectious smile and laugh, who was deeply loved and who touched many in his short life. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2022, 11 a.m. at Shaare Tefila Congregation, 16620 Georgia Ave., Olney, MD 20832. Interment following at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Adelphi, MD. Shiva will be observed at the home of Lisa Mandel Trupp on Saturday, December 24, 2022, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and on Sunday and Monday at the home of Judy Bresler. Shiva will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday at Susan's home in Lewes, DE. Memorial contributions may be made to Shaare Tefila Congregation, www.shaaretefila.org or to Temple B'nai Israel of Easton, www.bnaiisraeleaston.org. Arrangements entrusted to TORCHINSKY HEBREW FUNERAL HOME, 202-541-1001.

Ben made me fall in love with him immediately. Heaven existed inside him and you could feel the warm loving energy he exuded. I am heart broken. Can't imagine that he isn't here anymore to hug. Anyone that needed a friend found that in Ben. He was caring and fun and so interesting.

My Plans for today flopped for do many reasons. I should have been present but it did not happen as desired. I have to accept this reality just as I accepted that my mentee was no more. Ben gave me hope in every way and I trusted him to the extend of standing behind him and his endeavors. he took the right steps and was enrolled into school to become a Forensic Counselor. He engaged in the process to become one but God engaged him in another process and here we are left to mourn the department. Poor mother!! What can I do to sooth your pain? I feel trapped, powerless but I believe there is a purpose and a significance to all that happens. I will continue to pray for you and family. God Bless!!

Dearest Family,
Ben was exactly as shown in this photo. He embraced everyone with that warm smile and a big hug. Ben loved engaging with everyone in the room. He was adored by his nephews. Please know that so many will carry him in our hearts. I know your hearts are broken and the pain so deep. I hope that in time, the warmth he shared will return to you to lighten this profound sorrow.
