Maressa, it is very strange, but today I had the urge to look up you and Marc. You may or may not remember me. I was a student a couple of years behind the two of you in the MSU clinical psychology program, and we didn't know each other well, but were friendly. I remember that once you shared some lox and bagels you had brought from New York, and I was thunderstruck at how good they were.

When I googled you and Marc this morning, I saw I was two weeks late to contact Marc. I'm sorry I missed him, and I offer you condolences. I looked up to the two of you. You seemed serious about your commitment to the field. You were soon to leave for someplace in North Carolina, if I remember correctly. Apparently you lived most of the years between then and now in Danbury. I have been in Manhattan since 1976, where I became a psychoanalyst and have had a good life of seeing patients, teaching, writing, and editing. I have three kids and four grandsons, and my wife is also an analyst.

I really am sorry I missed Marc. I had no idea he was National Handball Champion. Wow.

It's very strange that it was just this morning that I had the impulse to see if I could find out what happened to the two of you.

Warm regards,

Don (Donnel) Stern

With deep sadness, we mourn the passing of our dear friend Marc, whose warm smile, kind words, and sense of humor touched everyone. We remember how his smile lit up the room when he spoke of his grandchildren. Marc will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his devoted wife, Maressa, his daughters Elissa and Rebecca, and their families.
