My condolence to the family of Ms. Martin. I was saddened to read of her passing and it has been a long, long time since I had seen her. I always remember her siting out on the front porch along with her husband and son bobby during those beautiful summer days while I was growing up. There was much love and joy between the families. The Harmon family lived at 1503 C Street, SE. As I think back 1503 – Harmon’s, 1505 - Bennett’s, 1507 - Brooks, 1509 - Martin's, 1511 - Johnson’s, 1513-Giles/Brown Sugar, 1515 – AL Jones, 1519 – Chinn’s then the Washington’s, 1521 – Ms. Brown and the list goes on.
Growing up on C Street are my wonder years and I thank God for Ms. Martin and the other mothers that played a special part in my life growing up. When Providence was located on Kentucky Avenue I had attended with Ms. Martin a few times. My family ended up joining Liberty Baptist Church across the street. May the Lord give you the peace that surpasses all understanding and enriched you with the joy of the Lord, which is your strength.
God Bless,
Evangelist Tina Harmon

My special condolences to Bernice's family. I've known and worked on many church activities with Bernice. She had such a wonderful outgoing personality and a cheerful outlook on life. She was a hard working church and community figure for a long time. Our Providence Baptist Church family will miss her, but the memories of her joyous, loving and caring ways will live on forever in our hearts. My prayers are with you all.

My special condolences to Bernice's sister Lucille & her grandson Byron. Over the past few years, I have been in close & regular contact with the two wonderful sisters and got to know & love Cille too. Bernice has been a fabulous business manager for the "Welcome Strangers" Guild at Providence Baptist Church where both of us octogenerians have served for many many years. I will miss my funny and cheerful friend. I have wonderful funfilled memories to cherish of my dear friend Bernice.
