Bev passed away Friday, January 6, 2006 at George Washington Hospital after a lengthy illness. A graduate of George Washington University, she created a loving home in Reston, VA with her husband of 43 years, Edward, and raised two sons, Edward Sharp, II of New York and Samuel Sharp of Ashburn, VA. Bev moved to Reston in 1969 and has also been very active in the Reston community. In 1980, she earned her pilot's license and became a member in The Ninety Nines, International Organization of Women Pilots and served as president from '98-'00. Bev was active in many organizations including the Zonta Club of Washington DC, Virginia State Association of Parliamentarians and The United Way, National Capital Area. An avid traveler, she saw the world visiting Hawaii, Yugoslavia, Greece, Western Canada, Nepal and most recently, Brazil. She cherished her grandchildren, Gabriella and Sebastian. Other family members that mourn her passing include her father, Edward Diggs; sisters, Sharon (Diggs) Fletcher and Lisa Diggs; brother, Edward Diggs, Jr.; sister-in-law, Marianna Diggs; nieces, Diana Diggs, Crystal and Melissa Fletcher; nephew, Jason Fletcher and daughter-in-law, Alana Sharp. Her mother, Hazel Diggs, passed away in 1980. Friends are invited to celebrate her life at ST. ANNE'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, Reston, VA, Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or at www.cancer.org or donations to the The 99s Endowment Fund, 4300 Amelia Earhart Road, Oklahoma City, OK 73159-1140. As we grieve her loss, we are comforted by the thought that she lived a full and meaningful life, never stifling her desire to learn and explore. Blue skies.
