BRIAN STONE Obituary

BRIAN ANTHONY STONE (Age 47)
On November 6, 2014, Brian died of complications at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD while participating in a clinical trial. Brian was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer in May 2013. He fought courageously for 18 months, striving to live longer for his family, whom he absolutely adored. Brian was a wonderful person: a beloved husband of 15 years to Tiffany Stone; amazing father to Dillon and Braedon Stone (11 and eight years old); devoted son of Attilio and Elizabeth Stone; loving brother to three sisters: Michele Stone, Marian Stone Ashley and husband, James Ashley, and Kathleen Stone Zuniga and husband, Edgar Zuniga; and proud uncle to Jason, John and James Ashley and Matthew Zuniga. Brian graduated from the University of Maryland's School of Architecture in 1990. He was the lead architectural designer/project manager with the Alexander Group in Rockville, MD for almost a decade. In 2008, he established his own company, Cornerstone Partners Design Build in Rockville, MD, which he successfully maintained until his death. He was among the first designers in Maryland to be invited to test and receive the LEED AP certification. He was very well respected among his peers in the design/build industry. Brian's services will be held on Thursday, November 13 at Saint Michael the Archangel Church, 805 Wayne Ave., Silver Spring, MD. The viewing will begin at 9 a.m. and the Mass will begin at 10 a.m. The interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, MD. The repast will then follow at the Oak Room, 17921 Brooke Rd., Sandy Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, a college savings fund has been established for his two sons: http://www.gofundme.com/gxwtbs www.colefuneral.com

I knew Brian through working with Tiffany over 10 years ago. He was such a strong and wonderful presence in any room he walked into. He was kind, loving and devoted to his family. He is missed.

I knew Brian when we worked together so many years ago at Au Bon Pain. He was always upbeat, friendly, and the kindest of people. I was so saddened to hear of his passing and can only imagine how devastated his family and close friends must be. Heaven has gained another angel, for sure... He was a light on this earth for so many... And I know that he will live on in the hearts of those that he loved.
