Bridget Sheridan Obituary

Bridget Ellen Sheridan lived a life of adventure. Her journey was one of meaningful purpose, incredible love, and delicious dinner parties still talked about today. She rejoined her three sisters and brother, mother, and father, leaving this earthly plane on May 22, 2024, at the age of 82.
Bridget was born on September 6, 1941, to Marguerite Hicks Sheridan and Leo James Sheridan in Chicago, Illinois. Bridget attended St. Anthony's Catholic School in DC, Regina High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, the Richmond Professional Institute (VCU), and completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Maryland. Her life was marked by passionate advocacy, infectious laughter, and a deep love for those around her.
A lifelong resident of Washington, DC, Bridget initially dedicated her career to the city's Park and Recreation Department. She later transitioned to working in early childhood development and education, and then finished her career at The Catholic University of America. Bridget loved working with children and students of all ages, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.
Bridget was a centerpiece of her community through her renowned dinner parties and impeccable style. She brought friends and family together in celebration and conversation. She carried herself with unmatched wit and imparted wisdom that made her a mentor to many. An avid lover of animals, gardening, and the arts, Bridget also had a passion for thrifting and antiquing. Her home was always open to everyone especially around the Holidays, a testament to her welcoming and generous spirit.
She is survived by her children: Leo Christopher Sheridan, Mary Bridget Sheridan, and Patrick Joseph Sheridan. Bridget's role as a mother was defined by boundless love, particularly evident in her devotion to her children, whom she raised with fierce independence and care.
While Bridget will be dearly missed, her legacy lives on through her family and countless friends.
