Bryan Whitney Obituary

Bryan Evan Whitney passed away at home in Gaithersburg, MD on January 27, 2024, beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend. He was loving and compassionate, a talented artist and musician. He was born in Rome, GA, to Charlotte Whitney (Silcox) and Edwin Kenneth "Ken" Whitney on August 10, 1961. He is preceded in death by sisters Erin (Whitney) Haskins, Leisa (Whitney) Todd, and his parents. He is survived by his children Jeremiah Karekin Whitney, and Seta Joyce Whitney, as well as former wife and best friend, Jane Karakashian all of Rockville, MD; brother Bradley Whitney (Janice) of Erie, CO; sister Leah Sturgis (Milan) of Springfield, VA; brothers-in-law David Todd (Moie), and Shawn Haskins, both of Greeley, CO, and David Karakashian (Heather) of Rockville, MD, as well as numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
After graduating with a BA in Film from American University in 1987, Bryan began a 35+ year career with C-SPAN where he met his wife. In 2001 he took a position with the US Senate Recording Studio from which he retired in 2023. He also pursued free-lance work with CNN, FOX, HUD, and ABC News where he worked with Ted Koppel and This Week with Sam and Cokie. Bryan pursued many artistic interests and was a member of several bands, in addition to running an audio restoration business. He will be sorely missed. A memorial service is planned for Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Saint Mark Presbyterian Church, 10701 Old Georgetown Road, Rockville, MD 20852.
