Dr. Bryant George, 79, a third-generation Presbyterian minister and parish associate at New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC, died on May 8, 2007. With a distinguished career committed to improving the lives of people around the world, he proudly worked with such organizations as USAID, IFESH, the Ford Foundation, Counterpart International, Inc., Tulane University and the Board of National Missions. A lover of classical music, Dr. George was a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University and McCormick Theological Seminary. He was a proud recipient of six honorary doctorate degrees and the USAID Career Distinguished Service Award. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Henry H. and Luvenia George; ex-wife Marion G. George; his son and daughter-in-law Arthur H. George II and Michelle George; daughter and son-in-law Lori George and Rev. Jeffrey Billingsley; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Cherie and Kenneth Storie; granddaughters Allegra George and Joy Dunn; grandson Bryant George; great grandson Kane Storie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. Memorial service, 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, 1313 New York Avenue, NW, Washington, DC.
