Carl Schmitz Obituary

Carl L. Schmitz of Great Falls VA died Monday September 8, 2025 at his home.
Carl was born on October 17,1930, in what is now Great Falls National Park. He was the son of the late Albert G. and Isabella Schmitz.
Carl was a veteran as he served in the Coast Guard soon after graduating from High School. Beginning in 1955 Carl began operating Schmitz Exxon in Tysons Corner, VA. In addition to Gasoline and Auto Services, Schmitz Exxon provided 24/7 Towing services. Towing and Recovery were truly Carl's passion.
Carl was married to Elizabeth Isaacs Schmitz for 66 years prior to her death in 2020. In addition to his wife Elizabeth and parents, Carl was preceded in death by his sisters, Emily Ring and Joan Schmitz, a son, Carl L Schmitz Jr. and a grandson Thomas Crumpacker.
He is survived by Susan Carter (Smoot), William Schmitz, Linda Crumpacker, and Eric Schmitz (Penny). He is also survived by eight Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Monday September 15 at 11 a.m. at Andrew Chapel Cemetery, 1308 Trap Road, Vienna, VA. The family invites everyone to his home after the service for a reception to celebrate his life. Online condolences can be made at:
