Carol O'Neil Obituary

O''NEIL CAROL QUINDLEN O''NEIL Carol Quindlen O''Neil, 62, of Arlington, VA, Associate Dean of Academic Administration at the Georgetown University Law Center, died on June 1, 2010 at Georgetown Hospital. She had lung cancer. Ms. O''Neil was the beloved wife of Joseph F. O''Neil, and mother of Anne O''Neil, of Washington. She is also survived by her mother, Katherine Quindlen, of Fairfax, VA; and seven brothers and sisters: Dr. Eugene Quindlen of Mobile, AL; James Quindlen of Woodstock, MD; Maureen Blackwell of Castleton, VA; Christine Main of King, NC; Brian Quindlen of Fairfax, VA; Kathleen Graham of Richmond, VA; and Mark Quindlen of Wilmington, NC. Ms. O''Neil was born in Washington and was graduated from St. Mary''s High School, in Alexandria, VA, and Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY. She obtained her law degree from Georgetown Law Center and had been a member of the Center''s administrative staff for the past 20 years. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be concelebrated on Saturday, June 5, at 1 p.m., in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3304 N. Washington Blvd., Arlington, VA, 22201. A reception will immediately follow in the church''s Benedict Hall. Relatives and friends may call at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA 22203, on Friday, June 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ms. O''Neil''s memory may be made to St. Charles Centennial Fund, and mailed to St. Charles Church (address above).

Joe and Anne, we just learned today of Carol's passing. We weren't aware she was ill. Chuck and I are so sorry to hear of it. She was a very lovely and gracious woman. You are in our thoughts and prayers. From your former neighbors.
