I never met Carolyn Reeder in person but I have enjoyed her books and have listed the ones set in the mountains in my web site AppLit. I'm sorry about the loss of this wonderful author.

I like to read and look at entries about my grandmother online and i came accross this site and found it touching how much people cared about her. She was an amazing women... and an even more amazing grandmother to me and my sisters. I am the oldest and i can't even measure how much advice and stories she told me. I will never forget them. Today marks 2 months of her being gone and not a day goes by that i dont miss her, love her and think of her. Its so nice to see the sweet things people have wrote about her and hear what they say about her. Thank you everyone.

I am shocked and saddened by Carolyn's passing. I have loved her books, using them in my classroom for many years and sharing them with my nieces and nephews. I even spent many happy hours exploring a variety of locations on the C&O Canal because of Carolyn's books. I had the opportunity to spend time with Carolyn at several children's literature events, and I was thrilled to be able to discuss books and history and writing and life with Carolyn. You have my deepest sympathy, and Carolyn will always have my deepest respect.

I read with great sadness in the KidsPost about Carolyn's passing. I am so sorry. Carolyn visited Loudoun Country Day School for a number of years and spoke with our 5th Grade about her book, Shades of Gray, which they read every year as part of their Civil War unit. Carolyn related so well to the children, sharing her great love of research and writing and encouraging them in theirs. We will miss her greatly.

I am so sorry to hear about Carolyn. She came and spoke to my students at Blue Ridge Middle School a few years ago, a wise and lovely person!

I was stunned to hear today of Carolyn's death. We have known each other for many years, through the Book Guild and our visits to Missouri for the Children's Literature Festival in Warrensburg. Carolyn will be in my thoughts for many years. I am very saddened by her loss.

To Jack and family - I'm so sorry to hear about Carolyn. She was a wonderful person - so many accomplishments, gone much too soon. My thoughts are with you in this very difficult time. Take care.
