Dear Sarah, Daniel & Meredith,
It was an honor to attend Lee's memorial service on May 3. I am sorry for this belated message. I wanted to let you know that I have made a gift in Lee's memory to the WGTS 91.9 Spring Fundraiser. This is a Christian radio ministry which is entirely listener-funded. It broadcasts in DC Metro and on the Eastern Shore. I am thrilled to support the ministry in memory of Lee who believed so strongly in giving. Lee was a delightful tax client and a wonderful man who clearly touched so many lives in Alexandria and beyond. I am blessed to have known him and the Fifer family. I am truly sorry for your loss.

The community has lost a true leader. Lee was not only a well known and respected lawyer but also a tireless advocate for affordable housing. Lee was a founding member of AHOME (Affordable Housing Opportunity Means Everyone) created in the mid-1980's. One of AHOME's principal accomplishments resulted in the passage of the Affordable Dwelling Unit Ordinance (ADU) adopted by the Virginia General Assembly in the late 1980's. The ADU ordinance was adopted by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in July 1990 and has since been adopted by other jurisdictions resulting in the creation of hundreds of affordable housing units. Lee's tireless involvement will result in the creation of additional affordable units for generations to come.

Potomac Riverboat Company was a better success thanks to great guidance from Lee in dealing with City lease matters. A joy to work with for many years. Always fun conversations. Terrific person.

I knew Lee when he was a child - the son of my dad´s good friend, Doc Fifer, the sister of my friend and classmate, Marilie. I love this wonderful and caring family. My sympathy to you all.

I met Lee as a 14 year old and am saddened to learn of his death. He was a memorable man, a kind and giving person, and a loving father and husband. May all who love him take comfort in having known him and keep his memory alive.

Sarah, Meredith, and Daniel: Thinking of you during this difficult time. Lee and I met at Brown in 1961. We shared happy memories from Brown, Sigma Nu, grad school at UVA, Mt Eagle, fishing aboard the LeeMar/LeeSar, golf in MA, VA, SC, and FL, and a few memorable "pickin´ and grin in´ " sessions in which Lee entertained with both guitar and banjo. He was the first "Southern Gentleman" I´d ever really gotten to know and I mean that in the finest sense. He was friendly, kind, bright, funny, and interesting; all the characteristics one could want in a friend. I could beat him at golf, but never at tennis. Like so many others, I totally enjoyed his company. I regret that geography and our busy lives prevented spending more time together.
The world was a better place with Carson Lee Fifer in it. I will miss him tremendously.

I first got to know Lee at the funeral of a dear mutual friend, Tom. Mourning the loss of my breakfast buddy, Lee leaned over to offer a hug, and say, "I´ll be your new breakfast buddy". And he was. Lee always followed through on his promises.

We are so sorry for his loss...for the family, friends and the community.
Margie, remember how he tolerated us and even played hide and seek with 'the annoying little girls' at Mount Eagle. I think the little girls were infatuated with him. Love to all of your family. Barbara and Andy

Lee was a fine student and an enthusiastic athlete. It was a pleasure coaching him at St. Stephens all those years ago. I remember him with great fondness.

Lee was one of a kind-no one like him will ever walk this earth again. I send my condolences to his family, and hope they find comfort in memories of this warm, generous, talented, spirited gentleman who left a positive mark on every life he touched.

Losing Lee is like every one of us losing a chunk of ourselves. His passion for helping those in need was as bright as the light in his eyes that every person would notice when they were with him. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to learn from him in his social activism, his business ethics and even hearing him singing along at a Jimmy Buffett concert. He was a tireless fighter for what was right in every cause I can remember him dragging me into. All of us need to simply honor him by continuing his fight to help every person, child, and animal have a kinder and happier life.

"Mr. Lee" was a larger part of my upbringing than he probably ever realized. When the Fifers were in town (Deale) at the house next door, we knew the weekend would likely include a boating adventure, some guitar playing, storytelling, and laughter. Mr. Lee´s generous, fun-loving spirit resonated with all of those who had the pleasure of meeting him. Into adulthood, I introduced several of my friends to him over the years who share in the sad news of his passing, but are so glad they got to meet him and experience his warm, joyful presence. Miss Sarah, Daniel, and Meredith - our hearts are with you during this time and we love you all dearly. Sharing these photos I took of him in the place I knew him best - on the Lee Sar. (2010)

Lee was a good friend, classmate, & teammate at St. Stephen´s, where he played on our football teams that were 8-1 & 8-0-1 in 1959 & 1960. Will never forget him, at 5´6" successfully pass defending a Landon 6´9" future NBA player, Fred Hetzel of Davidson College.
My sincere sympathy goes out to Lee´s family. His heart was larger than life.

Sarah, Meredith and Daniel,
Molly and I have been thinking about you since we heard the news on Lee. My college roommate at Brown, Deale boating, Golfing around the country on our 'outings', Eisenhower West, Victory Board, Mt. Eagle, etc ..., and many new friends introduced thanks to Lee.
So many happy memories to celebrate and so much admiration for your dedication the last few years.
