A beautiful tribute to a beautiful woman. Cissy was a wonderful role model. She possessed wisdom, independence and a good sense of humor. I feel so grateful that the boys and I had a chance to visit with her recently. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

I worked with Cissy in HUD's Office of Policy Development and Research in the 1970s and she was a wonderful and kind colleague and source of knowledge and assistance to a new employee. She also opened up her home for my family to house sit while she vacationed and that was a delight for a new family cooped up in a DC apartment. My condolences to her family.

I worked with Cissy at HUD in the mid 1970s; she endured that employment as a martyr. I'd kept up with her for the past 30 years, an annual visit to a Washington museum; she encouraged me to read Proust, which I now do in the original, to her envy. She was fortunate to witness the signs of positive political change just before she died. She was a kind and wise lady and will be missed.
