Cecilia Suyat Marshall July 20, 1928 - November 22, 2022
Cecilia (Cissy) Suyat Marshall, 94, passed away peacefully in Falls Church, VA on November 22, 2022. Mrs. Marshall was a civil rights activist and the widow of Thurgood Marshall, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. She is survived by her sons, Thurgood, Jr. (Teddi) and John W. (Jean), four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on December 20, 2022 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 301 A Street, SE, Washington, DC. 20003. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Marshall can be made to her home parish, St. Augustine's Episcopal Church in Southwest D.C. (staugustinesdc.org/donate) or the NAACP Legal Defense Fund (naacpldf.org).
