Longtime resident and prominent Washington, DC architect, CHARLES IRVING BRYANT, SR. passed suddenly on Tuesday, June 7, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Waveney; his children, Dr. Shawne Bryant, Mrs. Shelley Plass (Stephen) and Charles II; grandchildren, LaShawne, Lian and Eric; sister, Frances; sisters- and brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. Viewing will be held on Monday, June 13 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel on the campus of Howard University, 2371 6th St., N.W., followed immediately by the funeral service. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the School of Architecture, Howard University in the name of the Charles Irving Bryant, Sr. Scholarship Fund. Arrangements by McGUIRE.

My sincerest sympathy go out to the family and friends. I knew Mr. Bryant through the services that he provided to Howard University. He will be greatly missed. He had such a warm and friendly smile.

I am so very sorry to hear of Charles' passing. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. There aren't many people in the industry who have his depth of knowledge or such a warm and sincere regard for others. I am certain that everyone who knew Charles will truly miss him.
