Charles Robert Leonard

Born in Washington, DC on June 7, 1938, he passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at age 83. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Donna Linkins Leonard, of Leisure World. They met in homeroom at Montgomery Blair High School in 1955 and they married in 1957. He is also survived by their son, Brian Leonard (Christine) and their daughter, Debbie Young, (Peter). He loved his grandchildren, Peter Young, Jr. (Kristen), Corey Delaney (John), Pat Young (Lara), Tommy Young (Katherine), Dan Leonard (Errin), and Jimmy Young. He was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren. At 20, Charlie began his career as a Salesman at McCormick & Co. He later worked for Johnson & Johnson and Venus Esterbrook, among others. In the 1970's he formed his own company, Charles Leonard & Associates. He enjoyed the beach, golf, traveling, sports, music, and the arts. But most of all he loved his family. A Celebration of Charlie's Life will be held in the Leisure World Clubhouse I Ballroom in Silver Spring on April 30, 2022 at 11 a.m., followed by lunch. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) and Dachshund Rescue of North America (www.drna.org ).

Charlie was my neighbor for many years in Bowie. I also worked for him for several years. He was a kind, patient, brilliant guy who loved his family so very much! Soar on, Charlie!
