Charles Verrill Obituary

VERRILL, CHARLES O., SR. (Age 90)

Of Harwich, MA, formerly of Silver Spring, MD, died Saturday, February 12, 2005. Husband of the late Helen (Armstrong) who died in 1996 and also Elizabeth (Handy) Verrill, who died in 1970. Mr. Verrill retired in 1969 as Coordinator, Bureau of Operations for the U.S. Post Office in Washington, D.C. He had been a full-time resident of Cape Cod for the past 35 years, after having summered and vacationed there at his wife Elizabeth's Baker family home in Harwich since 1930. He is survived by three children, Atty. Charles O. Verrill, Jr. of Washington, D.C., John H. of Hebron, MD and Eleanor V. Hood of Lancaster, OH. He also leaves two brothers, David, of Yarmouth, ME and Roland of Sophia, NC; one sister, Marjorie Wilcox of Sanford, ME; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral will begin on Monday, February 14, at 12 Noon, with an hour of reflection at the First Congregational Church of Harwich, Main St., Harwood Center, followed by a service in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Island Pond Cemtery. Donations suggested to Harwich Conservation Trust Association, 6 Freeman Way, Harwich Port, MA 02646. COUTINHO-BOISSE FUNERAL HOME OF HARWICH CENTER is directing all arrangements.
