Christopher Laskowski Obituary

Laskowski

Christopher Edward Laskowski

Chris passed away unexpectedly in his home in Washington, DC. He was born in Manhasset,New York but spent the majority of his childhood in the Seattle area. He was a member of the University of Michigan swim team, where he was a co-captain his senior year. He earned his B.A. in English in 1998, and a law degree from George Washington University in 2005. He worked tirelessly for justice for the underprivileged and forgotten members of our society first through Teach for America, then as a brilliant lawyer and leader of policy initiatives at DC Appleseed and the Council of the District of Columbia.

At the Council, he was the architect behind dozens of laws, including transformative transportation and street safety, environmental protection, climate action, housing, anti-poverty, and women's health legislation. He was a loving father, son, husband, brother, colleague, and friend. He had a love of hip-hop music, Michigan and Seattle sports, and funny tweets. He loved to be with his family whether it was traveling, watching Star Wars, or taking bike rides. He was witty, intelligent, empathetic, and passionate.

He is survived by his wife, Ellison; son, Malcolm; daughter, Marin; parents Pam and Ned Laskowski; brother, Mike (Kristen) Laskowski and many other loving family members. He was a beloved man who will be deeply missed.

Services will be held on Sunday, January 14 at 1:30 p.m. at New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, 1313 New York Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20005.
