CLAIRE DRATCH
On Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at home in Chevy Chase, MD at age 96. Beloved wife of the late Joseph. Cherished mother of Howard (Kay Kollar), David, Peter (Kathy) and Gail (David Michaels). Adoring grandmother of Sam, Lisa, Ben, Joel and Lila. A remarkable life of faith, family, friendship, integrity, and style. Service at Ohr Kodesh Congregation, 8300 Meadowbrook Lane, Chevy Chase, MD, September 23, 2016 at 11:15 a.m. Interment following at King David Memorial Gardens. Family will observe Shiva at the residence of Gail Dratch and David Michaels on Saturday night at 8 p.m. and Sunday night at 7 p.m. and will receive visitors on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hebrew Home of Greater Washington or the House of Ruth. Arrangements by HINES-RINALDI FUNERAL HOME, INC., under Jewish Funeral Practices Committee of Greater Washington Contract.

I met her once. Seemed very nice. Coincidentally, she died the same year as my father...and at the same age.
I lived with her son, David, in McBride Hall back-in-the-day. Then later in a converted funeral home.
Strange times.
Hope he is doing well. I could/should have been kinder to David, lo those decades ago.

I was a student at a local fashion merchandising school when I began working at Claire Dratch in the late '80s. I remember how special it was selecting my wedding gown from the bridal salon and receiving her nod of approval. It was a very special experience to have worked for Joe and Claire. I will always remember the family of friends there. Praying God's comfort and peace to all of the Dratch Family.

My sincerest condolences to the family. I worked at the Claire Dratch store during high school in the 1970s. The work ethic of Mr. and Mrs. Dratch was inspiring. I learned so much from them about business and life that I carry with me to this day. She was a great lady!
