Memories and Condolences
for Clifton J. Yazzie

Not sure what to say?

Patricia Flanagan

May 31, 2022

I met Yazzie briefly at a gathering before the deployment of 2005. My son and he would play with words together to make their brothers laugh. They used every kind of humor together and separately.
They shared the same fate that January day. The Creator gathered them into loving arms to rest with their fellow patriots.
Clifton's family have bourne the cost of our freedoms. I pray for them.

Miss you everyday uncle. Every single day I always think about the time when you were here. Nothings been the same for me. Had to grow up quickly. I love you and I really wish you got to meet the kids. Love Brady.

August 13, 2020

Thinking about a lot of things lately, especially those loved one who have passed on. It got me remembering the laughs and smiles you provided everyone at any family gathering. I wish you were around still to continue the joy you brought to others. I never seen you sad or even frown. Wish I could just come see you and hang out. I wish you were around so I can let you know how my life is going and ask for some advice. Even after all these years we will never forget about you.

July 23, 2019

I wish you were able to be part of my life longer and to be around your family longer. But I know you are watching over us, especially your kids. Just know you are never forgotten. We all miss you Clifton.

November 13, 2015

Was thinking about you recently Clifton. Oh how I wish you were still around making the family laugh and smile. We all miss you so very much, it makes our heart ache still to this day.

I wish I got to hang out with you alot more growing up. But seeing you at the family events was still great.

You being a strong Navajo person provides me with a great role model that help me better myself and go to school. Like you I never gave up, soon I will have my degree. Thanks for being a strong image that I can look up to, especially in times of weakness.

We will never forget about you Smurf! Please keep looking over your kids, parents, and family members

August 31, 2014

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the Yazzie Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one, Clifton J. Yazzie US Army Specialist. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Clifton, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Brother it seemed like yesterday you would come behind me and pick me up just to hear me scream. You would always laugh about that. On a bad day all you would have to do is tell me a joke or do something crazy in front of me to make my day alot better. To this day i can still remember your laugh how it sounds. It makes me proud to have you as a older brother knowing you died doing what you loved.I will always miss you. You will never be forgotten.

I am a grandmother, and I want you to know I am deeply touched by MemorialDay this time. enough that I wanted to find a site such as yours to express my heartfelt feelings of sorrow for your Loss. My Brothers Father and Grandfather were in the armed services.. My Uncle Felix was in the Bataan Death March and survived, but died too young I am sure from complication of his service to our country..Blessings to all of you. I think I realize today more than ever how brave we Americans are. Is there anyway I can e mail a family member to send a memento to a child of his family...? In reading the rememberances of this young mans' short life, it seems all have been blessed by his presence whether he was known to them personally or not. Quite honestly, he sounds a lot like my grandson, though only a year. Interesting, my grandson has been my "yazzie" since before he was born. This blessed nick-name will carry the honor of your loved one.
Many blessings!

To the Family and Friends of Clifton,

I served with Clifton's company during Basic Training at Ft. Benning. From the first time I met him, he made a lasting impression on me. He has a warm heart, and could befriend anyone. I definetly consider him a "great" friend, and I will miss him greatly. My heart goes out to his family, the world will definetly be a lesser place without him. If there is anything I can do for the family, please let me know

To the Family of Sgt. Clifton Yazzie, I am very sorry for your loss. I remember meeting your son/husband back in Germany. I think it was about the time he was about to have his first baby. We had these get togethers where we would eat frybread and what not. ;0) He was just as you described, outgoing and laid back. It's funny 'cause he walked by us and spoke German to us, thinking we were locals. I had to turn around and yell at him, "Hey, where you from?" :0) We all enjoyed being together 'cause i know how we all got homesick here and there. You are all in my prayers, take care.

I am so sorry for the lost of your loved one. I know it's something that you cannot get back but just remember the person that he was. I knew Clifton along time ago but it was through basketball. Guess you could say it was the rival thing. He was a nice guy when i got the change to talk to him but he did know how to make people laugh. At least from when I knew him. I know it was along time ago but I still remember him and it was a shock to me to see now that he is gone. I know what kind of person he was and it will be something that will be missed. I know i did not know him as well as his family but I did once knew him and he made quite the impression. My condolences to his family and truly sorry for your lost.

First and foremost, my condolenses and prayers go out to the Yazzie Family and their lost soldier. I'm sorry for your lost, I too, lost a family member and know how you feel, but you'll have to accept the lost and go on with your lives. It sucks, but then-again you'll always have an angel watchin' over you. May God Bless You and Your Family.

To the family of Spc. Clifton J. Yazzie:

We do not know each other, will probably never meet. We will, however forever be united in our grief and sorrow at the loss of our Hero sons. I know first hand there are no words right now to bring you the comfort and peace you need. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this. My heart, thoughts and prayers are with you and this courageous young man's family.
