Craig Dreilinger Obituary

DREILINGER

DR. CRAIG LEWIS DREILINGER (Age 73)

On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, CRAIG LEWIS DREILINGER, PhD., of Cabin John, MD. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and psychologist. Husband of 48 years to N. Amanda Ford. Father of Aaron (Jaime) Dreilinger and Rebecca (Andrew) Einhorn. He so loved his family, including his five grandchildren.

Craig grew up in Long Island, New York and became graduate of Hofstra University and an outspoken political advocate in his youth. He went on to receive his PhD in psychology from the University of Maryland and taught at the University of Michigan and the George Washington University.

Known by many as Dr. Craig, he was generous with his time and poignant with his advice and support, both professionally and personally. He was known for asking questions that cut to the heart of things and being truly invested in the response. As a licensed clinical and management psychologist, he was widely recognized for his work assisting organizations to engage in strategic planning and cultural change, and he was instrumental in the formation of the Ethics Officers Association. He also served in a volunteer capacity as chairman of the board for over ten years at Innisfree Village, a community for adults with disabilities, where his brother was a resident.

Craig enjoyed being behind-the-scenes, coaching both seasoned executives and emerging leaders to succeed in their roles. He loved helping young professionals discover their full career potential. He was a seasoned traveler; lover of books, movies and classical music; pursuer of knowledge and learning; animated storyteller, much to his grandkids' delight; and longtime member of Congregation Beth El of Bethesda Maryland.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, 12:30 p.m. at Congregation Beth El of Montgomery County, 8215 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD 20814. Interment following at Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park, Clarksburg, MD. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Beth EL of Montgomery County. Please also consider donating blood to the American Red Cross or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to TORCHINSKY HEBREW FUNERAL HOME, 202-541-1001.

The world is a much better place because of you and so many benefitted due to your gifts of insight, and their use to help everyone fortunate to have known you

I loved Dr. Dreilinger and I am so very sad to hear of his passing. What a smart man he was. He would come to visit us at our office (to meet with my boss, who admired him greatly). Our interactions were short, but I would always learn something from him, and as our friendship grew, we would laugh a lot, and he would teach me little things that I've never forgotten. I no longer "awfulize" (which he said I was doing a lot)! Loved Dr. Dreilinger, and sending my best to Amanda (who he said he adored). With love xxx

I knew Craig as a student in The Center for Learning & Living, a nonprofit school for people 55+. He always made intelligent comments in our classes, on constitutional law and other subjects. Sympathies to his family.

Lloyd and I will always remember and be eternally grateful for the way Craig and Amanda unhesitatingly welcomed our children as part of their family when our kids were working and attending school in the DC area. I think my favorite story is when Craig said he had an organizational meeting for work in Israel, not unusual, but lucky timing, as it was our son David's wedding weekend in Tel Aviv. When Craig got to his hotel, and I asked about his work schedule for the week, he admitted, "nah, I just came to be with you guys." May his memory be a blessing.
