Craig Miller Obituary

Craig Miller died suddenly on September 12, 2024 of a heart attack after a long recovery from a stroke. Craig considered himself lucky to have many good friends and fulfilling work.
Craig was born and lived his last years in his beloved Wilkes-Barre, PA. He met his wife Chris of 48 years while at UVA pursuing his doctorate. He lived most of his life in Alexandria, VA where he raised his family, bookended by brief university stints at Boulder and CMU.
Craig was passionate about his work, which often touched on the environment, energy policy and the resilience of the electrical grid, and computing. He loved to innovate and build new things, and was always learning, teaching and building something.
He was known for his energy and curiosity and humor and love of the natural world. He was effusive with his love.
He is survived by sister Carol and Bill Snyder; wife Chris Miller; children Miranda, Ursula, and Conrad Miller (Maggie Whitehead-Miller); and grandchildren Jacob and Isaac, and many beloved friends who he considered family.
A memorial reception will be held on Sunday, October 13 at 1 to 4 p.m. at the Green Ridge Club in Scranton, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation (one of his favorite causes) would be appreciated.
