CURTIS HUFF Obituary

CURTIS ELTON HUFF, JR.
A mentor to many, Curt spent his life helping others. A natural at diplomacy and bringing people together, he was able to straddle ideological, political, and national barriers and build global alliances and networks of people helping people. After receiving his PhD in Political Science from Michigan State University, Curt and wife Jane, started a family and eventually moved to Nigeria in the early 1970's to work as college professors, adventurers and discover what life had to offer. Upon returning home, Curt spent 35 years at the US Department of State working in African affairs and spent much time travelling to and living in African countries. He worked with Rotary in Bethesda, MD, and Unity Center Church in Washington, DC to generate resources and help for his projects in Africa. His likeable, motivational character combined with his professional credentials and capabilities gave him great success in bettering the lives of people in need. Mostly through education, training, and guidance, he helped many overcome poverty to achieve independence, higher education, and even business ownership. The network of philanthropy he created will no doubt continue to grow and flourish.Curtis Elton Huff Jr passed away peacefully at home on Good Friday, April 2, 2021 after a several year struggle with Parkinson's. Curt, you represent the best in human understanding. As Africa Branch Chief at the State Dept Office of Academic Programs when I was Manager of Africa at IIE, you were most helpful and truly understood the less than ideal situation of the Fulbright Programs administration in Africa. Your earthly accomplishments are already exalted. Eternal rest Dr. Huff.
