Daniel J. Flood Sr.
On Thursday, August 7, 2014, Daniel Joseph Flood, Sr., who resided in Damascus, Maryland, passed away in his sleep of natural causes at the age of 57. Danny is the beloved husband of Dawn Eury Flood; the loving father of Erin Zielinski, Kara Wright, and Daniel Flood, Jr. and the loving stepfather of Jason Eury and Christina Eury. He is survived by five grandchildren, Alicia and Andrew Zielinski, Dylan Creviston, Lily and Declan Wright, and many devoted friends. Danny, often referred to as "Damascus Danny" was the owner and Master Plumber of D&D Plumbing & Home Improvements. In addition, he was an active real estate agent working together with his wife in their family owned and operated real estate firm, D&D Real Estate & Development. Danny was born on January 29, 1957 in Washington, DC and raised in Maryland. He graduated from Walter Johnson High School and attended the University of Wisconsin. He was also an active member of the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce. Friends may call at the DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, Maryland on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. Dan and Dan Jr, would come by my shop on occassion and the easiness of his persona, plus the obvious care for Jr, was always such a welcome time. I found out of his passing from Jr and although i only met him a couple of years ago, the news had such a profound affect on me. As a peer of Dans, it really hit home to say the least. My condolences to his family and all those who loved him... CJack

This is so shocking...Adrian and I know Dan and Dawn and just a year ago had Danny come do some plumbing work for us...his friendly style and good work is well remembered. Our condolences and heartfelt sympathies and prayers go out to Dawn and the entire family - may he rest in peace.

I was a long standing plumbing client of Dan's. He had a work ethic of such integrity. He also showed his love for his family. I was out of the country and just learned of Dan's death. I am so sorry. My sympathy goes to the entire family. I know he will be missed.

Dan and I grew up together and shared a lot of great times. We grew apart at some point which unfortunately seems to happen in life. I always envisioned getting together to rehash our years growing up and never thought we might run out of time. This is one of my favorite pictures of us on a trip to the outer banks. As Dan might eloquently state ( like he did to the cows in a field next to Walter Johnson in his classic John Wayne voice) "Listen up and listen good" - you are a good man Dan Flood, you will always be a an important part of my life.

What a loss to all of us. Danny will be greatly missed.His love for his family was always first. We all are sure going to miss his wonderful stories. Heaven just acquired a wonderful soul.

Our deepest sympathy to Dawn and entire family. Danny surely will be missed by so many that loved him. He was a man of integrity, hard worker and a funny storyteller.
