After all these years I still miss those sidewalk chats Dan and I had at bus stops and around the neighborhood. Nobody has matched him as an impromptu discussion leader.

So sorry to learn of Dan's passing. Thinking back to all our wonderful times in WIW, what I remember is his quick wit, his kindness, his constant willingness to do whatever needed to be done, his wry viewpoint, his smartness, and a great deal of laughing. My sincerest condolences to Maxine and the whole family. The world is poorer without Dan.

It was my great good luck to know Dan for 40 years as a neighbor, a fellow parent and a WIW board member because that meant we might cross paths at meetings, school events, uptown or downtown, at Metro escalators or bus stops. Dan was always ready for a short or lengthy chat, full of news, gossip and anecdotes, thick with laughter. Those were some of the best conversations ever, anywhere. I don't know what I'll do without them.
