Dara Safiya Watkins Northern, 29, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021 in Washington, DC. She was born on September 9,1991 in Washington to Robert (Brother Ah) Northern and Dr. Ayana Watkins-Northern. Beloved daughter, friend, gifted vocalist and dancer, organ donor. She is survived by her parents, friends and family, including her Metropolitan Baptist Church family. Funeral services will be held at J.B. Jenkins Funeral home Thursday, August 5, 2021. Viewing 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.; Funeral service 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Ayana, it is with unspeakable sadness to hear of Dara leaving this life so soon. I remember the Children of The Metropolitan Day School being so respectful and joyful. You could see a gleam coming from their infectious smiles. The beautiful Catillion; so young and perfecting the waltz at such a young age. All priceless. My sister hold on to God's unchanging hand. God will comfort you like a blanket for such a time as this. I am so sorry to hear of another mother grieving the passing of their baby.
