Darla Shehadeh Obituary

Passed away on September 7, 2025 in Rockville, MD. Born in the small town of Smackover, Arkansas, Darla and her family moved all over the south before settling down in Dallas, Texas. She earned a communications degree from Texas Woman's University, and subsequently worked for a Dallas advertising agency. In 1963, she moved to Lebanon, where she became a journalist. She married and lived in Beirut for many years before returning to the United States.
Darla was preceded in death by her husband, Imad Shehadeh, and her parents, Thomas and Eva Brooks. She is survived by sons Ramsey and Karim; brother Tommy; beloved grandchildren Ian, Luke, and Hannah; sister-in-law Maha; and many nephews and nieces.
Darla had a cheerful demeanor, a warm personality, and an infectious aura of kindness. She was a steadfast friend, a loving sister, and the best mother anyone could ever hope for. We are truly fortunate to have had her in our lives.
A funeral mass will take place on Monday September 15th, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Mother Seton Catholic Church, 19951 Father Hurley Blvd., Germantown, MD.
