I am so heartbroken to learn of Mr. Bush's passing, which I am just learning. I have known Mr. & Mrs. Bush since I was a teenager and they were the youth counselors at Bell's United Methodist Church. I fell in love with them from the minute I met them.

I am quite a bit older than a teenager now and we've kept in touched all these years. What a beautiful life they both led and what great examples of true humanity they presented. They touched so many people's lives. I adored them.

I have a wonderful memory of visiting them Christmas of 2023 and having a great visit. Mr. Bush still went way out with the Christmas decorations, including those incredible doll houses that he built. Like my father (who passed in January of 2024 and also was born in 1925), Mr. Bush was a World War II veteran. I know how much he loved this country.

But mostly, he loved his beautiful wife of 81 years. I am praying for her and hope that we can speak some time soon. Mrs. Bush, I love you, as I so loved your husband. God bless you.

Such Respect the Bush Family deserves. Our relationship goes back over 40 years mainly through Church affiliation, our shared Pastor needs, and our children´s involvement with Church people and activities in the Youth programs. So proud to know Daryle (and Dorothy) all these years. Praying God will continue to bless you as we share in this loss and

Darrell was my supervisor for many years when I worked at Pepco! He and his wife invited me to their home several times for dinner over the years. He was the best supervisor anyone could ever have.

To The Bush Family
Thank you for the many years of sweet neighborly love. When I moved into the neighborhood in 1993, Mr. and Mrs. Bush were very caring. Whenever it snowed, I'd wake up to the sound of a snowblower as Mr. Bush cleared my sidewalks and driveway.

Initially living alone, Mr. Bush believed a streetlight was necessary in front of my house due to the darkness. Remarkably, about four weeks later, upon returning from work, I discovered a streetlight had been installed in front of my home.

On trash collection days, he would kindly move my trash cans from the street and place them back near the garage.

After I married, he and his lovely wife would often stop to chat with my husband and me. My husband affectionately referred to him as the Mayor of our street.

With Sincere condolences,
Barbara and James Cottom

I have known Darrell and Dorothy Bush for 85 years. He lived on one side of me and Dorothy lived on the other side. I feel so honored to have had these two beautiful people in my life for 85 years. Dorothy was my mentor the whole time I was growing up. My sister and I played with their beautiful daughter, Linda, and she was always so kind and pleasant as her parents. My heart goes out to Dorothy. Love you both, June Sellner Payne

Darrell, along with his wife of 81 years, were dedicated members of Bethany Christian Church, Fort Washington. Bush served faithfully in many capacities. He was especially loved by the many generations of Bethany youth. As a fellow church member, my time with Bush involved helping with medical appointments and general wellness. He was always greatful. I was privileged to accompany him to many veteran occasions as his "private nurse". What an honor it has been. God bless you Bush. May you rest in peace.
