Dave was a great scientist, colleague and closes friend who visited the NOAA laboratory in Miami numerous times when he was still at NASA and after his retirement. He was always excited to learn about our research and would often dive in on some of that research and work with us to get them published. I know I will miss Dave's infectious enthusiasm and gregarious manner of doing research. He taught me of the importance of serendipity in the research process.I will miss him dearly. I want to wish Lucile, Joan, Robert, and all the grandchildren my heartfelt condolences in this time of grief.

To Mrs. Atlas and Family,
Death is a sting and was never God's intention for man to die. God has made a way out, however, by making it possible for us to see our loved ones again here on earth. May this thought comfort you at this most difficult time.
