DAVID ATLAS (Age 91)
On Tuesday, November 10, 2015, David Atlas of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Lucille Atlas; devoted father of Joan of Winchester, MA and Robert of Rockville, MD; loving grandfather of Michael, Brian, Rachel, Melissa and Joel. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2015, 1 p.m. at Riderwood Chapel, 3140 Gracefield Rd., Silver Spring, MD 20904. Interment Judean Memorial Gardens, Olney, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to David and Lucille Atlas Scharlorship Fund, AMS, 45 Beacon St., Boston, MA 02018 or The Riderwood Benevolent Care Fund.www.SagelBloomfield.com

Dave was a great scientist, colleague and closes friend who visited the NOAA laboratory in Miami numerous times when he was still at NASA and after his retirement. He was always excited to learn about our research and would often dive in on some of that research and work with us to get them published. I know I will miss Dave's infectious enthusiasm and gregarious manner of doing research. He taught me of the importance of serendipity in the research process.I will miss him dearly. I want to wish Lucile, Joan, Robert, and all the grandchildren my heartfelt condolences in this time of grief.
