David Arthur Bieging (Age 72)  
Of Alexandria, VA, died September 12, 2021, at home from cancer. David was born in Stillwater, MN on July 28, 1949, the youngest of three children to Kenneth and Ruth (Edstrom) Bieging.David graduated from Harvard College in 1971. He served as a staff member in the Minnesota State Legislature and earned a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 1976. He became a Legislative Assistant to then-U.S. Senator Walter F. Mondale and served as Special Assistant to him during his term as Vice President.David later served as Chief of Staff to U.S. Representative Martin O. Sabo (D - MN) and finished his career as a regulatory lawyer in private practice, representing many clients from Minnesota. Having never met a stranger, David leaves behind a community of friends and family spanning from coast to coast and across the political aisle. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy (Willing); his brothers, John (Lou Ann) Bieging of Tucson, AZ, and Jim (Deb) Bieging of St. Paul MN; daughters Sarah (Christopher) Johnson of Bedford, MA, Lindsey (Greg) McConnell of Denver, CO, and Laura (Lois) Bieging of Alexandria, VA; by granddaughters Lydia, Anna, and Ida Johnson; grandsons Jack and Henry Bieging; and by 19 nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who all brought him great joy.A funeral service will be held at Christ Church, 118 N. Washington St., Alexandria, VA on September 25, 2021 at 10 a.m. Memorial donations can be made to Historic Christ Church and to ALIVE! Inc., of Alexandria.
