Sorry to hear of Mr Horak's passing. I was one of the enlisted in the computer division (S&R) of the Intelligence Department (IOIC) of the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19), where he was our ICC Division Officer (Intelligence Coordination & Control). I can't remember whether he was aboard for BR's San Francisco Embarcadero liberty call in October '72, after the ship had come back from it's first WestPac and only combat. I know he was part of the recovery of one of BR's officers from the Soviet AGI Kursograph that found him in the South China Sea, after he had gone over the side during Exercise Pagasa in '73. That was the first and only time a non-Soviet had been aboard an AGI, and his recovery was something out of a Hollywood production. I left the Navy in '74 and was not aboard for Operation Frequent Wind in '75, as Mr Horak was, but you will find a very good account in the ship's Wiki ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Blue_Ridge_(LCC-19) ) and Mr Horak's photo is in a department feature ( http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1f/Blue_Ridge_UP_DATE_1973-04_file_10_of_13.jpg ) of the Wiki Commons of BR's publications ( http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Publications_from_USS_Blue_Ridge_(LCC-19) ) that I had uploaded. He had a good sense of humor and got the nickname, THE BEAR, along with all of our goofy paper "bear traps" in the center. He kept us amused with his stories about his donkey ride down the Grand Canyon. A short life but a full one, R.I.P., Sir.
