Fondly remembering a dear friend and fantastic vet for all animals that came his way. Your passing was so hard and Ilke to imagine you surrounded by happy creatures, creatures great and small.

Remembering Dr. Jackson with great fondness, affection and gratitude for his years of tender care given to us and our feline family. He was a wonderful and kind man whom we feel blessed to have known. Continue to rest in peace "Doc" surrounded by all the loving wee beasties you helped cross over that beautiful Rainbow bridge. We think about you and miss you every day, but especially on the date we had to say "so long good friend, until we meet again".

Dr J was an exceptional human being, vet and our good friend. Over the many years we saw Dr J, he was always the true professional, who made every effort to provide the best care for our cats. He will be missed by all of us.

My deepest condolences to the Jackson family. I got to know Doc Jackson through his son Chris and over the years it was always fun to see him whether it be at their house or at a VB show. Recently, he took the time to take care of my 2 cats and I got to see what a great vet he was as well. Tonight I will pour out a little Dogfish head in his honor. May he rest in peace.

Doc, my friend, we weren't finished building my kitchen at your office! Thank you for the 20+ years of friendship. I'll miss our shared stories of family and life. Give Sandy a kiss for me at the rainbow bridge, and i know you're playing with all your buddies up there.

Doc, you held my hand with care and support through 5 dogs and two cats in the last 26 years. You were the calming voice in the middle of the night. I know all those beautiful animal souls are surrounding you now.

Mike and I were deeply saddened to learn of Dave's passing...

For 13 years, Dave Jackson took extraordinary care of our golden retriever, Reggie. Dave was always patient, kind and extremely thorough, despite the many "adventures" our dog got into (like swallowing a golf ball!)

In addition to that, Dave always greeted you with a smile and a hug...made both his patients and their owners feel welcomed and cared for.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Judy, and your family

Dave, I will miss you. We have know each other since Virginia Tech. You would always tease me concerning the better grade that you made in the sheep production course. I shared my old project notes with you and Dr. Green allowed the usage of past projects. Happily, you got an A+ for the same work that I only received a B. I guess the professor had to read the writing twice to recognize the effort. Still it made us both smile.
I enjoyed serving in different veterinary associations with you, notably the Emergency Veterinary Clinic of Northern Virginia, just I enjoyed the management ideas that you shared as an AAHA speaker.
Dave, as a newborn you came into the world early just as you left the world far too early. Please know that I share your loss and hope Judy's days become less difficult with time.

I have been going to VCA and Dr. Jackson for probably 20 years. Ever since the first time we visited the clinic and met Dr. Jackson we knew we were in good hands. He's cared for our dogs over the years, always treating them as if they were his own and being open and honest with us when it was time to make those hard decisions. To hear the news of Dr. Jackson's passing was very sad. My family and I want to let the VCA family and Dr. J's beloved family know how heart and prayers are with you. Dr. Jackson will surely be missed.

I am deeply saddened by Dr. Jackson's passing. I know, however, that he has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and was greeted by many happy yips, tail wags, purrs and sloppy kisses. He was more than a vet and he treated his 4 legged patients and their owners with nothing but kindness and respect. He will be missed. My condolences to his families, both at home and at work.

Sometimes a person comes into your life that you always remember - even though you have not seen him in over 40 years. Dr. Jackson was one of those people. He was our vet when we lived in Fairfax Co. He was wonderful to our pets and always ensured we knew what was going on. My deepest sympathy to all of you during this difficult time.

It's been almost 11 years since my then-kitten Whiskers first office visit with Dr. Jackson. Little did I know then that Whiskers would be given the same level of quality care that our family practice doctor had given us humans a few years ago in Dayton, OH. Since then, Dr. Jackson and his University VCA staff have become members of our extended family as we worked together to keep Whiskers healthy and boarded when needed. This past December, Dr. Jackson and staff saved the holidays for us by pulling Whiskers through one of the number of emergencies that this high-maintenance kitty has given us. I send my prayers and thoughts of deepest gratitude to Dr. Jackson's family and his staff at VCA. Dr. Jackson, I will always appreciate the care and compassion that you afforded this kitty caretaker. You will be missed by many, my friend.

My family will be forever grateful for the kindness he should our LEO. We only had him for a short time and only knew Dr.Johnson for a short time as well but he tried his best but it was not to be. I still miss my LEO and always will. Thank you for all your kindness.

I met Dr. J almost 14 years ago when I became the owner of a rescue dog and was referred to Dr. Jackson. I will never forget the first visit to the clinic and the aggression that my rescue dog showed that day. Even though Raven showed that all she wanted to do was bite Dr. J, he never turned her away. He and his staff worked with Raven and welcomed her with open arms. Raven was a better dog from knowing this family. Last Spring Dr. J learned that I was looking for a roommate, he found the perfect solution - his son Mike. Mike took the time and effort to get to know my aggressive dog Raven and in no time at all they were pals. Last November Raven became ill and I had to put her to sleep. I will never forget the compassion and comfort that Dr J., the clinic and his son Mike gave me the last two days of Raven's life. I feel very blessed that I am part of the family both in the clinic and in his personal life. My heart has been sad and heavy over these past few weeks. Your family has been in my thoughts and in my prayers and will continue to be there. You will be dearly missed here but I know that there are plenty of furry friends that have welcomed you with open paws. RIP Dr. J.

Dr. J was the first person to hire me back in high school (Karla Spagnola 1986). He loved to joke around but be serious when the time was necessary. He taught me some valuable lessons during that time, which I will never forget. Now as a veterinarian and business owner of many years, I can see how his life has touched many and know that this is the real testimony to us all. "Bloom where you are planted." We all can make a difference, however unknowingly, to those around us. My sympathy to the family, and I wish you God's strength as you live out his legacy.

We have been going to you, Dr. Jackson for about 27 years. We trusted you with our precious pets and you always were there for them and for us. We will miss you so much! I don't think we will ever have a vet as wonderful as you!

Doc was a wonderful friend, as well as a gifted and compassionate doctor to all his furry patients. We hope he is now reunited with all those whom he helped cross over the Rainbow Bridge, including a few of our own. St. Francis will be grateful for his kind, gentle assistance,as he has so many to care for. We feel blessed to have known such a remarkable man. Be at peace friend. Words cannot convey the emptiness and sadness that we feel. We really did lose a “family doctor.” Dr. Jackson was there for us for 13 years, providing loving support and care for our tuxedo cat, McQuain – and for comforting us during some serious medical problems. Dr. Jackson will be missed by all of us…….especially his rambunctious furry feline friend.

Judy and Family,

Dave was a very active member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church who we enjoyed working with and knowing for several years. We (and many others) already miss him, but we know he's watching over us (and lots of animals!) from Heaven. Our prayers are for you all during this sad time.

Dr. Dave Jackson became a part of our family through his unwavering concern and care of our cat (Buddy) and dog (Frosty). Over the years, his warm, good humor and kind support helped us through the difficult times that came as our pets aged. We have truly lost a wonderful friend and excellent doctor.
