David Moses Obituary

David Leslie Moses, 65, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, from natural causes. Raised in McLean, Virginia, he lived in Stamford, Connecticut at the time of his death. David graduated from the Potomac School in McLean, Virginia, Langley High School, and Skidmore College. He completed his graduate studies at Columbia University and the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. David dedicated his life to serving people in need, working with individuals struggling with substance use, homelessness and incarceration. He believed deeply in dignity, compassion and second chances. David was also a fervent animal lover and was seldom seen without his dog, Leo. Among his other passions was a love for music, particularly playing with friends as a drummer. David was the beloved father of Sarah Moses, Alexandra Andrew, Adam Moses and Grace Moses. In addition to his children, he is survived by his father, Alfred Moses, sisters Barbara Moses, Jennifer Moses, Amalie Moses Reichblum, and his former wife, Daphne Barbour. He was predeceased in death by his mother, Carol Moses. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 1 at 10:00 am at Sixth and I Historic Synagogue in Washington, DC followed by burial at King David Memorial Gardens in Falls Church, VA.
