DIANE KAY DONAHUE  
Diane Kay Donahue, a retired pediatric nurse, mother of three and 45-year resident of Lorton, VA, died October 31, 2017, from complications following spine surgery. Born November 25, 1938, to Lawrence and Sophia Kuntz, Diane was raised with younger sister Susan in Marinette, WI, where Diane attended Our Lady of Lourdes High School. Following graduation in 1956, Diane attended nursing school at St. Mary's in Milwaukee, where she met Marquette University student Patrick Shane Donahue. They married and moved to Indianapolis, where their three children were born. Diane worked nights as a nurse while Shane attended law school at Indiana University. They moved to the Washington, D.C., area after Shane accepted a position with what was then the General Accounting Office. Diane worked part-time for over 30 years at Pediatric Associates of Alexandria and cultivated enduring friendships with co-workers and neighbors in their Mason Neck, Va., community of Harbor View. Diane loved to cook, entertain and play Mahjong.Diane thrived on vacations with friends. She and Shane flew yearly to their beloved time-shares in Cancun, Mexico; Delray Beach, FL; and Saint Maarten. She traveled regularly to hometown reunions.Diane is survived by sons Patrick Kevin Donahue (Wendy) of Wilmette, IL, and Sean Keenan Donahue (Michelle) of Hypoluxo Island, FL; grandchildren Brandon Poe (Hannah) and Colin Poe of Atlanta; Meaghan and Erin Donahue of Hypoluxo Island; Nora Donahue of Wilmette; sister Susan Purtell Strom of Mequon, Wis.; great-grandchildren Oscar and Eleanor Poe; and many nieces and nephews on her husband's side. Services will be at St. Raymond of Peñafort Roman Catholic Church, 8750 Pohick Road, Springfield, VA on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11 a.m., followed by a reception at Spring Hill Clubhouse, 8946 Yellow Daisy Pl., in Lorton.

Diane was one of my dearest friends in high school and beyond.
She and Shane were a delight to know and we so looked forward to getting together for our high school reunions...they were the official photographers and I still have a video that makes me laugh when I view it... Please accept my prayers. I will think of her often...
