Don Henry Obituary

Don Allen Henry, 83, of Manassas, Virginia, enjoyed his final sunrise and crossed over to eternity on August 25, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Malvern, Pennsylvania, Don served with honor in the United States Navy aboard the USS Little Rock. After the Navy, he earned a bachelor's degree in education from West Chester University in 1966 and a master's degree in education from George Mason University in 1974. For 30 years, Don taught German, Russian, and Social Studies at Fairfax, Herndon and McLean High Schools in Northern Virginia. His love of language and history extended beyond the classroom as he cherished connecting with people through a shared understanding of the human experience. In 1973, Don hand-built a home as a labor of love for his family on a hill alongside the Bull Run Creek, where he resided for 51 years raising two sons. As a devoted Scout troop leader, he instilled his temperate demeanor, love of nature, and sense of self-reliance in others. He was a loving husband (Nancy) and father (Peter and Michael) who never turned down a friendly game of cards. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Don's life on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia.
