I just saw today (18 November 2024) on Joe Glockner´s CT History site that Admiral McDowell passed away in March. How sad that such an accomplished Navy officer should depart the pattern with a one paragraph obituary that records his birth and death. Admiral McDowell had a life-changing impact on the direction of my career when I worked for him at CINCPACFLT and again when he was COMNAVSECGRU. His leadership and vision had a significant impact on fleet intelligence and geolocating operations and in the SECGRU´s fleet support ashore infrastructure. He was a hero to me but I know that I was not the only one of his many crewmembers that he mentored and supported. His departure leaves a hole in my heart. Fair Winds Boss.
