I knew Doris for many years in in Silver Spring. We were in a bookclub together. We had many interesting discussions. One of the many books we reader was written in China many years ago and recently I read a
book that was a takeoff of it. It is amazing how books can survive and live in your memory. Your mom kept
control of two ladies, both librarians, who tried to dominate the discussions. I did see Doris at Riderwood
a few times for lunch. However she was so busy playing Bridge that it was difficult to set up a day to meet.
I ran into Patty a few times here in Columbia. I send my best wishes to everyone. your mother was a vibrant and intelligent woman. She knew what she wanted and went for it tooth and nail. She was a model to her family and
friends.
