This is a sad day. I worked with Doug at DTRA and took several of his Russian counterparts and his team to Gettysburg. A consummate gentleman, an expert in the field and an honorable man He will be missed

Sincere condolences Englund family. Losing a loved one in death is very painful, our Heavenly Father feels your pain too. He will comfort and strengthen you as you mourn the loss of your loved one. Psalm 94:17-19

Doug and I met in graduate school(73) and studied together at the US Russian Institute in Garmisch, Germany(74-75). A natural linguist and first rate intellect and if I could choose anyone to have a conversation with, it would be Doug. You will be sorely missed by your family and friends.

Doug and I were classmates (1975) at the U.S. Army Russian Institute. Doug was a serious man who also had a great sense of humor--a great combination for a man living in "interesting" times. May he rest in peace, and may his family be comforted in this time of Doug's passing.
