DOUGLAS HORNE Obituary


DOUGLAS FRANKLIN HORNE  (Age 83)  
Went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2017. Born August 22, 1933 in Akron, Ohio, the eldest son of Edgar and Effie (Shreve) Horne and loving brother of Edgar Shreve Horne. After graduating from Calvin Coolidge HS in DC, Doug proudly served his country in the US Army and then went on to graduate from the University of Maryland. Doug's 34-year career as a dedicated civil servant for the City of Rockville was extremely rewarding. Doug loved spending time with his children and nieces telling them all about the family history during the Civil War and especially loved being with his brother Ed in special places like Ocean City or at the track betting on the horses. He took great pride in his Confederate family heritage and his great grandfather, CSA Captain Daniel Trundle Shreve.Doug is survived by his four children, Michael Kevin Horne, William Douglas (Wendy) Horne, Linda Theresa (Buddy) Small and Philip Shreve Horne; nieces, Janet Division and Patty Sharkey; four grandchildren, Heather Moore, Maison Horne, Maddy Horne and Alex Naas; four great grandchildren; William, Jackson, Amelia and Haven. A graveside service will take place on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 12 Noon, Mount Olivet Cemetery, 515 S. Market Street, Frederick, Maryland.
