Earl Vernon Mayo

Earl Vernon Mayo, of Capitol Heights, MD, was called home to Glory on August 12, 2025 (Age 80). Dedicated DC Public Schools Teacher for 40 years. He is preceded in death by his mother, Martha (Worsley) Mayo; father, Henry Roosevelt Mayo; three brothers Albert, William, and Charles; sister-in-law Veronica; and nephew, Billy. He is survived by his sons Robert V. Mayo, PhD and Jared L. Sawyers; nieces and nephews, and a host of other loved ones and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025, 9:30 a.m. until time of his livestreamed Celebration of Life 11 a.m. at Union Temple Baptist Church, 1225 W St. SE, Washington, DC. Interment will immediately follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, 4001 Suitland Rd, Suitland, MD. In lieu of flowers, please make a tax-deductible donation to Whittier Elem.
