when the games were finished. I remember the excitement at the parties at
Grosvner Riverside Park. Wil Jones,Smitty,Dante, Plops, Alonzo and Easy Ed or EDWARD as we playfully referred to him.

To the Epps Family
I graduated with Ed Epps from Cardozo and one of the memories I had of Ed was in English class in the 12th grade.
He was the life of the class. May the Lord wrap his arms around the family and comfort them. He is now among the angels looking down on us and smiling.

My Man, "Easy ED" was truly a DC Legend. We both attended Cardozo together and long before I could play the game we loved, I got the chance to see "Steady Eddie" at work. He got better with time & was gracious enough to embrace an up & coming player, ME, while I was in college & still trying to learn the game. For years we played ball together, beginning with the first Urban Coalition Summer League. Ed invited & united EVERYONE, no matter where you were from, to experience the joy of playing winning basketball at the highest levels DC had to offer. ED was a WINNER & he won at every level he played & coached.
Once, while playing ball in Zagreb, Yugoslavia I met a Yugoslavian player who asked if I knew ED EPPS. He had been a victim of several of ED's soft jumpers in a loss to Utah State, when he was a player at Brigham Young.
In time, ED found his niche' as a teacher & coach. He could transform a good player into a great one. ED was at times gruff, but always honest & he got the best out of you. He knew he had the gift of teaching & took humble pride in ascending to the stature of being called "COACH EPPS".
That booming voice is now silenced but my LOVE & RESPECT for ED will always endure. ED touched hundreds of lives & I'm glad to say that one of them was ME! I will truly miss "Easy E"!

To the family of Mr Epps: The sudden loss of your loved one touched my heart; my heart will always remember as I reminance from my high school days (seeing your loved one (Ed) that's what we called him in high school... He played exciting basketball games to bring Cardozo a trophy and he truly could play. Ed got the students to come out to practically all of his games. I did not get to attend all of them but; I can reflect on the few games that I attended and he was truly perservere and a dedicated student and a great player. My prayers and condolences go out to Mr. Edward Epps family. Beverly Goines (High School Classmate)
