EDWARD RENAUER Obituary


Edward J. Renauer, Sr.  
Former Director of Medical Support for George Washington University School of Medicine died on November 25, 2018.  Mr. Renauer, who lived in Rockville, was born in New York City. He graduated from Iona College and attended Fordham and George Washington Universities. He served in the Pacific with the United States Navy in World War II and a tour of combat duty aboard a destroyer during the Korean War. He received two battle stars and a Presidential Unit Citation. In 1962, he moved to Bethesda to join the Goodwill Industries of America as National Director of Development. Later he became Executive Director of the American Optometric Foundation. In his later years he was a real estate agent and worked for the W.C. & A.N. Miller Development Company. His wife of 49 years, Mary Rita Renauer, died in 2006. Survivors include two sons, Edward J. Renauer, Jr., Sean P. Renauer (Suzanne), a daughter, E. Marita Burrow (Matthew) and six grandchildren, Lola, Olivia, Sophia, Madison, Marissa and Garrett. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 4 to 6 p.m. at PUMPHREY'S COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Montgomery Ave., (Rt. 28 just off I-270), Rockville, MD. A Requiem Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Old St. John The Evangelist Historic Church, 9700 Rosensteel Avenue, Forest Glen, MD.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady Queen of Poland Church or The Narcolepsy Network, Inc.
