EDWIN SCHIMLER Obituary
EDWIN BEVERLY SCHIMLER, JR.
Edwin Beverly Schimler, Jr., 81, of Springfield, VA, died April 18, 2021. Born on April 20, 1939, in Mount Vernon, NY, he was the son of the late Edwin and Helen Schimler. He was a 1962 graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy where he earned a BS in Marine Engineering. He furthered his education by earning an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1965; and an MBA from The American University in 1975. He spent 36 years working at the Maritime Administration, where he was appointed as Associate Administrator for Shipbuilding and Technology Development. He is survived and deeply missed by his beloved wife, Sandra, his sons Nace Schimler (Susan) and Mathew Schimler (Kelley), and daughter Laura Nachison (David), five grandchildren, Brent, Megan, Jack, Brady, and Peju. Also, his sister Beverly Wissel, his cousins, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on May 15 at Westwood Baptist Church in Springfield, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Springfield Babe Ruth League, PO Box 2712, Springfield, VA 22152-9998.
