EILEEN ANN GITELSON
On Monday, May 16, 2016, EILEEN "Cookie Koonin" GITELSON of Washington, DC, peacefully passed away at her home in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Beloved wife of Marvin Gitelson; loving mother of Michael (Gayle) and Tod (Michell) Fishman and stepmother of Ricky (Randy) Gitelson and Sherri (Mike) Malone; dear sister of Hankie (John) Franks and Donna (Jeff) Ackerman; cherished grandmother of Mitchell and Magnus Fishman, Marli and Alex Gitelson, Matt and Faye Orlove and Carlee Malone. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016, 11 a.m. at King David Memorial Garden, Falls Church, VA. Shiva will be observed at the home of Michael and Gayle Fishman after the service on Friday and Saturday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael Gitelson Cancer Research Fund in c/o Children''s Hospital Center in Washington, DC. Arrangements entrusted to TORCHINSKY HEBREW FUNERAL HOME, 202-541-1001 (endorsed by The Rabbinical Council of Greater Washington).

Cookie was a special light to all that knew her. I never knew her to be anything but upbeat. She was a lovely and loved unique person. We will all miss her.
